Cardinals Dominate Eagles, 33-10

Skyward Flight: Palmer has the Cardinals looking up.

In a battle of the birds, the 2015 Arizona Cardinals put the 2003 Philadelphia Eagles away early, as they were up as much 26-3, with David Johnson's 90-yard kick return touchdown to kick off the second half.

Carson Palmer was amazing in the season opener, completing 19/30 passes for 334 yards & 3 touchdown passes; After Week 1, he leads the entire league with a stellar 134.6 QB rating, while leading league in passing yards & tied with TD passes with Johnny Unitas (1965 Baltimore Colts).

Palmer's go-to-guy was John Brown, who had 6 receptions for 136 yards & a go-ahead 1st Quarter touchdown, in which the Cards never looked back.

Not surprisingly for the Eagles, their go-to-guy was Brian Westbrook, who recorded 155 yards of total offense (61-rushing, 72-receiving, 22-returns)... Donovan McNabb (21/37, 250 yards), on the other hand, made mistakes, throwing two interceptions, while being sacked 4 times, in a day that resulted in a 55.0 QB rating.

Busy Bird: Westbrook was doing everything for the Eagles.
The Eagles actually controlled the clock & had more first downs (19) than the Cardinals (18) -- the difference was that the Cardinals capitalized on their opportunities in a big way & big victory.

What's next for the two teams?

  • 1990 Buffalo Bills (1-0) @ 2015 Arizona Cardinals (1-0)
  • 2003 Philadelphia Eagles (0-1) @ 2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1)
